The Al-Sadd first team squad concluded their preparations for the upcoming AFC Champions League 2020 Matchday 3 clash against Al-Ain, with a final training session on Monday at the Aspire Academy pitches.
The session witnessed the return of Akram Afif, who underwent treatment lately, having missed the last league game against Al-Sailiya after feeling some pain in his ankle.
Akram’s return is a boost for Al-Sadd’s attack, with the Qatari international and reigning Asian Player of the Year having finished as joint top scorer of the QSL in the 2019-20 season alongside Yacine Brahimi, in addition to being named as the league’s Best Player.
The Wolves will now look for a win and three points against Al-Ain, which can take them closer to the next round of the AFC Champions League. Currently, Al-Sadd are on top of Group D with four points, level with Saudi side Al-Nassr but ahead on goal difference.
During the final training session on Monday, the coaching staff focused on crosses, and dealing with them both defensively and offensively, in addition to implementing some tactical moves in midfield.
