Doha Bank Stars League: Al-Sadd stay top with 6-3 win over Al-Sailiya

Al Sadd continued their winning streak in the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League by defeating Al Sailiya 6–3 in Week 4, in the match played on Thursday at Lusail Stadium. With this victory, Al Sadd maintained their top spot in the standings with 12 points. Akram Afif (20′, 76′), Hashim Ali (45+3′), Firmino (50′ pen, 65′), and Moustafa Tarek (90+5′) scored for Al-Sadd, while Ali Olwan (35′, 90+10′) and Ahmed Doozandeh (58′) scored for Al Sailiya.

Razvan: We must be ready in every aspect

Al-Sadd head coach Razvan Lucescu confirmed his team’s readiness to face Al-Sailiya in the fourth week of the Doha Bank Stars League.

He added during the press conference: “This is our fourth match in the league, every match in the Qatari league is difficult, and therefore we must be ready for it in the best possible way.” ...

Doha Bank Stars League: Al-Sadd beat Al-Gharafa 4-1

Al Sadd secured a 4–1 victory over Al Gharafa in Round 3 of the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League season, during the match held on Saturday, September 5, at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

With this win, the Wolves climbed to the top of the league standings with 9 points from three consecutive victories. Al Sadd’s four goals were scored by Yousuf Abdurisag in the 5th minute, Claudinho in the 12th minute, Akram Afif in the 50th minute, and Firmino in the 90+3rd minute, while Yacine Brahimi scored for Al Gharafa in the 83rd minute. ... 

Romagnoli: Happy to be here at Al-Sadd

Al-Sadd’s newly signed Italian defender Alessio Romagnoli expressed his happiness at joining the club for the upcoming period.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Romagnoli said: “I was very excited to come here and happy about it, especially since we had been discussing this move for several months and there was a possibility of joining Al Sadd. Al-Sadd head coach Razvan Lucescu emphasized that the team is preparing for a tough and intense clash against Al Gharafa in Week 3 of the Doha Bank Stars League. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Lucescu explained: “We are playing another match just three days after our Qatar Cup semifinal tie, but the team and the players are ready to take on the challenge to secure a victory.” The Romanian coach added that Al Sadd’s goal at this stage is clear—winning to keep momentum going—noting that the upcoming fixture will be completely different from their recent Qatar Cup encounter with Al Gharafa. Lucescu also called on the Al Sadd supporters to back the team in this crucial match, stressing that their presence and support will play a major role in motivating the players on the pitch. For his part, team captain Hassan Al-Haydos acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming match against Al Gharafa, while assuring that the squad is fully prepared for the challenge. Al-Haydos said: “We enter the match with high ambitions despite the brief recovery window. We are ready to face Al Gharafa, even though we had little time to recover after playing them recently. While that presents a physical challenge, we are prepared to give our absolute best.”

Al-Sadd sign Italian defender Romagnoli until 2029

Saad Al-Dosari: Happy with the win over Al-Gharafa and reaching the final

Saad Al-Dosari, the Al-Sadd goalkeeper and Man of the Match, expressed his happiness over qualifying for the 2026 Qatar Cup final following a 2–1 victory against Al Gharafa in the semifinal match. Speaking after the game, Saad said: “Praise be to God for the victory. We were the better side in the first half, while Al Gharafa were stronger offensively in the second half. However, the most important thing for us was securing the win and qualifying.” He added: “I want to thank the Al Sadd fans for their support and backing. Our journey this season is still long and requires immense focus. God willing, we will deliver our best across all competitions and keep working to achieve our goals.”
