OFFICIAL: Jung Woo-young extends Al-Sadd contract to 2023

Al-Sadd SC is pleased to announce the extension of first team midfielder Jung Woo-young for two additional seasons, up to 2023.

The South Korean international joined the club at the start of the 2018-19 season on a three-year contract. During his time with the team, Woo-young won seven titles. Under former coach Jesualdo Ferreira, he lifted won the QNB Stars League shield, before going on to win six titles under current boss Xavi Hernandez: QNB Stars League (1), Qatar Cup (2), Amir Cup (1), Sheikh Jassim Cup (1), Ooredoo Cup (1). ... 

Xavi: I’m proud to continue with Al-Sadd

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi expressed his delight after extending his stay at the club, and spoke of his aim to achieve more goals along with the players and the staff.

Xavi said: “We achieved a lot together, scored goals, won matches and titles, and we are all very proud of this success. Getting this kind of support is the best thing any coach can get.” ... 

Amir Cup: Al-Sadd beat Al-Arabi 3-0 to reach the final

Al-Sadd reached the final of the Emir Cup 2021, after defeating Al-Arabi 3-0 in the semifinal clash that took place on Sunday at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium

The Wolves will now await the winner of thr other semifinal between Al-Duhail and Al-Rayyan.

Nam Tae-hee opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a header, after a cross delivered by Yousuf Abdurisag from the right. Despite creating several more chances, Al Sadd couldn’t score again in the first half but after the break, the team was finally able to add to their lead. ... 

Tabata: We are looking to win and qualify for the final

Al-Sadd’s Rodrigo Tabata spoke of the importance of the next match against Al-Arabi in the semi-final of the Amir Cup.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Tabata said: “A very important match awaits us against Al-Arabi in the semi-finals of the Amir Cup. We are ready and expect the match to be very competitive.” ... 

Xavi: I’m close to extending my contract with Al Sadd, excited to face Al Arabi

Al Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez stressed on the difficulty of the upcoming clash against Al-Arabi in the semi-final of the Amir Cup 2021, which will be played on Sunday evening at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “We are very excited to play Al Arabi, it is a very good team, and this is an important match for us in the Amir Cup.” ... 

Sergio Alegre: We were hoping to win and ensure qualification

Al-Sadd assistant coach Sergio Alegre expressed his dissatisfaction after his side lost 2-1 to Al-Nassr in the sixth and final matchday of the AFC Champions League group stage.

Speaking at the press conference after the match, Sergio said: “It was an intense match. We were hoping to win and ensure qualification. We played well in the first 20 minutes, but after the first goal of Al-Nassr, we fell back. We lost in some positions and tried to compensate in the last few minutes but we did not succeed.” ... 

Santi Cazorla: It will be a difficult game against Al-Nassr, and we are ready to win

Al-Sadd’s Santi Cazorla described his side’s upcoming AFC Champions League game against Al-Nassr as difficult and decisive, and stressed on the desire to win.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Cazorla: “It will be a difficult and decisive match, and it is the last game in the group. We as a team are fully prepared to win against Al-Nassr and to get the three points.” ...

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez addressed the media on Wednesday and stressed on the importance of the upcoming game against Al-Nassr, in the sixth and final round of the 2021 AFC Champions League group stage.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “It’s another final for us and we have to win it. It’s a very important match for us, to ensure top spot in the group and to qualify for the next stage.” ...
