Al-Sadd star Akram Afif stressed the importance of the 2-0 victory achieved by Al-Sadd against Al-Gharafa in the third round of the Doha Bank Stars League for the 2025-2026 season.
Speaking after the match, Afif said: “We congratulate the players and the fans. It was a tough match, and we were in great need of this win before the break. We managed to achieve our goal by winning and securing the three points.”
He added: “I thank the fans for their support of the team and for their patience after the defeat we suffered in the first round. The start of the season was not good for us because of some pressures and the circumstances related to joining the national team and clubs, but the most important thing is the victory and getting back on the right track.”
On the tensions that occurred between players of both teams, he said: “I see it as a normal match. Respect should be mutual — respect is earned, not given — and there are rules to be followed.”
