Al-Sadd lose to Sigma Olomouc in first preseason friendly

Al-Sadd’s first football team suffered a 2–1 defeat to Czech side Sigma Olomouc in their first pre-season friendly on Friday as part of the team’s preparations for the 2026–2027 season.

Al-Sadd started the match with Saad Al-Dosari in goal; Tarek Salman, Paulo Otávio, Abdessamad Bounacer and Younes Al-Hanash in defence; Augustin Soria, Claudinho and Hashim Ali in midfield; while Giovani Henrique, Roberto Firmino and Rafa Mujica led the attack. ... 

Razvan Lucescu: I consider myself a lucky coach to be part of Al-Sadd

Al-Sadd’s new coach Razvan Lucescu spoke of his delight at joining the team, and express his desire to be a part of the club’s history.

Speaking to the club website in his first interview, the Romanian coach said: “Al-Sadd is one of the most important clubs in Asia. It’s one of the most important clubs in the Arab world. I believe that I can consider myself a lucky coach to be part of the Al-Sadd group, the Al-Sadd team, and, I hope, the history of Al-Sadd.” ... 

Al-Sadd kick off preparations for 2026-2027 season

Al Sadd SC’s first team began preparations for the new 2026–2027 season with their opening training session on Sunday, 5 July, at the club’s training facilities.

The session was attended by Mohammed Ghanem Al Ali, head of the football department, Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, CEO of Al Sadd Football Company, Mohammed Gholam Al Balushi, the sporting director, as well as the first-team administrative staff. ... 

Al-Sadd announce 2026-27 preseason training schedule

Al Sadd Club has officially announced the schedule for their overseas training camp, which will be held in Austria as part of their preparations for the new 2026–2027 football season.

The first team will begin training in Doha on 5 July.

The team will then leave Doha for their first overseas camp in the Austrian city of Lienz on 13 July, with the camp running until 24 July. They will then move to their second camp in Bad Häring from 25 July until 8 August. ...

Al-Sadd lost the final of the 2025–2026 Amir Cup after suffering a 4–1 defeat against Al-Gharafa in the match played on Saturday, 9 May 2026, at Khalifa International Stadium.
