Sergio Alegre, the coach of Al-Sadd, stressed the significance of the upcoming match against Al-Arabi in the eighth week of the Doha Bank Stars League for the 2025-2026 season. The match is set to take place on Saturday evening at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Speaking at the press conference, Alegre said: “The upcoming match against Al-Arabi will be very tough. They have a new technical staff, and although their start to the season hasn’t been particularly strong, they have talented players, both foreign professionals and locals.”
He added: “It’s a strong match and considered a Qatar football derby. We must be fully prepared to secure the victory.”
Regarding the team’s recent results, the Al-Sadd coach stated: “It’s clear we’re not happy with the outcomes of recent matches. We feel disappointed, but this feeling should motivate the players to turn things around.” He concluded: “We must give our best to earn the three points. Our goal is to stay as close as possible to the top of the league table, and that’s our main objective this season.”
On his part, Al-Sadd striker Rafa Mujica described the match against Al-Arabi as tough and challenging. He said: “Facing Al-Arabi is difficult because it’s always a complicated match. It’s also a special game because it’s a derby. We know how tough the match will be, but we’ll give 100% effort. We know our task is to win, and that’s what we aim to achieve.”
He continued: “It’s tough to go through a period without victories, especially since we’re a big team, and this is particularly hard on our fans.” He affirmed that the players will work to correct things and achieve wins in upcoming matches.
