Sergio Alegre: Al-Sadd is ready to face Al-Ahli, we have a big responsibility

Al Sadd head coach Sergio Alegre described the upcoming clash against Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia in the fourth round of the AFC Champions League Elite as a strong and difficult encounter.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Alegre said: “Al Sadd are ready to face Al Ahli. We are not under major pressure, but we have a big responsibility to achieve victory.”

He added: “We have a very tough game ahead against the defending champions. Our focus is on our players and our team, and we are determined to win for our fans. We know we didn’t start the tournament as we wanted, but we believe in our abilities and will give everything we have in this match.”

Alegre continued: “Qatar’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup is a great step forward, and it should be reflected in the performances of Qatari clubs in continental competitions. For now, our focus is entirely on Al Sadd and on tomorrow’s match. We have prepared our plan carefully and will concentrate on controlling the game and creating attacking solutions. We are ready, but we need our fans’ support.”

For his part, Rafa Mújica said: “I believe we’ve prepared well for this match and will give everything on the pitch. We expect a very tough game, but our goal is to win.”

He added: “We need our fans for this one — we’re facing the defending champions, and it’s a great opportunity at home to get the victory and get back on track in this year’s competition.”
