Roberto Mancini: I am very happy to be with Al-Sadd and I hope we achieve many victories

Roberto Mancini, the new head coach of Al-Sadd’s first football team, expressed his happiness at taking charge of the team in the coming period.

Mancini said in his statements to Al-Sadd’s official website:
“I am very happy to be here. Thank you to Al-Sadd. I hope we can achieve many victories, and we want to perform better because our current position is not fitting for a club like Al-Sadd.”

The Italian coach added:
“I watched the team against Al-Ahli. They did not deserve to lose because they played a good match. For me, it is important to get to know the players quickly, and after that, we can make all the decisions related to the team.”

Regarding his objectives with Al-Sadd, he said:
“In football, it is difficult to talk about long-term goals. It is better to focus on our short-term objectives. Right now, I repeat, we are not in a good position. We want to try to win the league title. It is possible, but at this moment it is difficult. It is important to win match by match, and afterwards, when we move up the table, we can talk about bigger things.”

He continued:
“We have the league and we want to improve our position. In addition, we have the AFC Champions League. In this competition, we must win many games in the group stage to try to qualify for the next round.”

He concluded:
“I saw Al-Sadd’s fans in the match against Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia — they were excellent. I believe every team needs its fans because they are extremely important.”
