Al Sadd qualified for the quarterfinals of the Amir Cup after defeating Al Markhiya 2–1 in the Round of 16. The match was played on Saturday, 14 February, at Grand Hamad Stadium in Al Arabi Club.
With this victory, Al Sadd will face Al Shamal in the quarterfinals. The two goals for Al Sadd were scored by Spanish striker Rafa Mujica, first from a 74th minute penalty and then in the 77th minute after being set up by Akram Afif. Al Markhiya’s lone goal was scored by Momodu Naby Sarr in the second minute of second half injury time.
