Al-Sadd star Akram Afif expressed his great happiness following the team’s victory over Saudi side Al-Hilal and qualification to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite, confirming that the team delivered an outstanding performance and fully deserved to progress.
Speaking after the match, Afif said: “Alhamdulillah for the victory. We managed to achieve what we set out for.”
He added: “Small details made the difference in the match. We delivered a great performance, and no one at Al-Sadd is dissatisfied with the level—on the contrary, this is one of our best performances since the start of the season.”
The Al-Sadd star continued: “We give everything we have on the pitch. The final penalty had a special meaning for me—since our loss to Al-Gharafa in the Amir Cup final, I decided to take the fifth penalty. Today, I remembered that moment and executed it successfully.”
Afif concluded: “We have the right to celebrate this qualification, but at the same time, we must continue to work hard to achieve victory in the next match.”
