Al-Sadd head coach Roberto Mancini stressed the importance of the upcoming match against Al-Shamal, noting that the Amir Cup clash will be entirely different from the recent league meeting between the two sides.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Mancini said: “A very important match awaits us, and we will face a well-organised team. We played against them just a few days ago in the decisive league title match. We must stay focused because cup competitions are different, and the Amir Cup itself is unique. Everyone knows the importance of the Amir Cup for the club, the fans, and the players as well, and this is something I have clearly noticed everywhere.”
Mancini added: “From my point of view, every team participating in the Amir Cup has a chance of winning it, and not only Al-Sadd are considered favourites.”
The Italian coach also pointed out that almost all teams are at a similar level and that every side is strong, stressing the need to remember that this is a different competition.
He concluded: “There are additional and exceptional aspects to the Amir Cup, and that is what makes this tournament special.”
