Al-Sadd’s Brazilian full-back Paulo Otavio spoke of his delight after extending his contract with the club for three more years.
Otavio, who joined the club in the summer of 2023, expressed his thoughts on the occasion, speaking to the club website.
He said: “I am very happy with my first three years at Al-Sadd, and my family is also very happy here in the country. The country has given us everything, and I think the least I can give back is my maximum on the pitch. I’m really happy. I am really, really happy. I have no words to express how happy and grateful we are for the next three years that lie ahead.”
“My family is happy, and I am happy just as I always hoped I would be because this country, its people and the fans have treated us like family, like we were kids in need of a home—and we found that here. We found love, we found passion, and we found everything we had been looking for throughout my career. I hope to give back to the club, the fans and my teammates by living up to all the expectations they have of me.”
Otavio added: “We are here to win because we are Al-Sadd. I will do my very best to fulfil our main project, our main objective, because you know, I know, and everybody knows what that objective is. We are going to do it for you guys (fans), and for ourselves as well.”
“For me as a player, the past three years have been incredible. I have achieved many great things: twice being named the Best Left-Back in the league, three league titles, one Super Shield and one Amir Cup. Unfortunately, we lost the Amir Cup final last season, but we are still very happy.”
Speaking about the ongoing pre-season camp, Otavio remarked: “The situation now in the training camp is very good. We are using this time to recognise and understand the coach’s ideas. Of course, these are completely different ideas from last season.”
“This period is very important for the whole team, for all the players, to understand what he wants, what he expects from us, and also what we can expect from him I think we can use it (the camp) as a very good way to prepare ourselves for the new season ahead.”
