Al-Sadd head coach Razvan Lucescu expressed his thoughts ahead of his side’s opening game of the 2026-27 Doha Bank Stars League season against Al-Ahli, emphasising the need to be focused.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Razvan said: “Every time we start a new season, there are always a lot of emotions. It’s the moment when we finally get into the real work of being a team, of being a coach and a player. So, all of us are really looking forward to the beginning of the season.”
“In these first games, everyone must be very focused and concentrated. We have to treat the opponent with the maximum respect and give everything we have, because only by approaching the game in this way can you be successful.”
He added: “The team has shown good progress throughout this entire period. We started with one group on the first day of training, then the second group joined, and finally the third group.”
Razvan concluded by saying: “From one stage to another, as the different groups joined the team, we have continued to improve. As I said before, the team is on the right path and going through a good process. Now, it’s very important that we show the right mentality from the very first moment of the game on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, Al-Sadd captain Hassan Al-Haydos stressed the importance of the team’s upcoming clash against Al Ahli in the opening week of the Doha Bank Stars League.
“We are expecting a tough and competitive match against Al Ahli. We are at the beginning of the season and will face a strong and difficult team, so the match will not be easy.”
He added: “As a team, we are settled in terms of the squad and ready for the start of the season. What we need now is to improve our performances during matches, and that will come through the games ahead.”
Al-Haydos concluded: “The support of the Al-Sadd fans is our biggest and most important source of motivation. We will certainly need our fans’ support in a big way.”
