Razvan: Qatar Cup means a lot to us, we have to be at our very best

Al-Sadd coach Razvan Lucescu stressed the importance of their Qatar Cup 2026 semi-final against Al-Gharafa on Tuesday, emphasising that his team will go into the game with one objective: to win and book their place in the final.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Lucescu said: “This competition means a lot to us. Winning two matches gives us the opportunity to lift the trophy, which would be the culmination of the players’ efforts and would make our fans happy.”

He added: “We are at the beginning of the season and want to continue working with the highest levels of focus and motivation, giving everything we have from one match to the next, while continuing to develop and improve our performance. We know that facing Al-Gharafa is different from our league matches, so we have to be at our very best.”

The Al-Sadd coach stressed that his team always fights for titles, saying: “Al-Sadd move from one competition to another with a winning mentality. We have made a good start to the season, but our ambitions are high and we always want to be ready for the occasion.”

Meanwhile, Al-Sadd forward Roberto Firmino said their Qatar Cup 2026 semi-final against Al-Gharafa will be a difficult and intense encounter, stressing the players’ desire to continue winning and take another step towards lifting the trophy.

Firmino said: “It is a very important semi-final and we want to win the competition. We are always working towards winning titles. Our entire focus is on the match against Al-Gharafa, and we will give our very best to reach the final.”

Firmino concluded: “Every match against Al-Gharafa is like a final, and this particular game will require us to fight and compete from the first minute until the last in order to achieve victory.”
