Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez congratulated his players, after the big 4-1 win over Al-Duhail in the semi-final of the 2020 Amir Cup.
Spekaing at the press conference after the match, Xavi said: “We feel very happy after this deserved victory. We were better than Al-Duhail from the beginning of the match; we conceded an early goal, but we maintained our way of playing and we continued in the same manner. When we scored the equalizer, the situation changed and we got a four-goal win.”
He added: “I have never seen Al-Duhail defend in their half during my career, but this happened, and today Al-Sadd came to dominate Qatari football with the wonderful performance and what everyone saw on the pitch.”
“I’m very happy to beat Al-Duhail for the fourth time in a row. We achieved our first goal, which was to reach the final, and our second goal is to win this prestigious trophy. It was possible to score more goals. The result does not tell us completely about the whole match, because we deserved more goals.”
As for Al-Sadd’s preparations for the final against Al-Arabi, Xavi said: “Now, it’s the time to be happy with the result and enjoy reaching the final. We will not think about the final against Al-Arabi now.”
“We defeated Al-Duhail, one of the best Qatari teams, and facing Al-Arabi will be very difficult.”
He added: “We will focus on the league in the coming period and we cannot relax. We are currently going through an excellent period and I told the players that we want to win every match, especially as we are Al Sadd, and we cannot make excuses.”
Xavi concluded by saying: “There is still time for the final, and Al Arabi is an excellent team with a good coach, so it will be an important final and a difficult match.”
