Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of his happiness after winning the 2020 Amir Cup with a 2-1 triumph over Al-Arabi in the final.
“I am proud of my players who displayed a high-level performance in an excellent final. We won a big tournament and we deserve it, after the good performance throughout the competition and also in this game,” said the coach.
He added: “I am delighted to win the title, and I hope it will be a boost for us in the remaining tournaments this season.”
As for the opening of the Ahmed Bin Ali World Cup Stadium, Xavi said: “Congratulations to Qatar on the opening of the stadium; we saw an excellent venue, and a great inauguration, as is usual in Qatar.”
Xavi concluded by saying: “I trusted my players’ abilities and their spirit and desire to win. I want to congratulate the club management for their support for the team and for standing by the players until they achieve their required goal.”
