Al Sadd had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Al Wakrah, in the QNB Stars League Round 19 clash that was played on Thursday at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
With this result, the Wolves took their points tally to 51. Rodrigo Tabata scored the opening goal in the 25th minute before Khaled Muneer equalised for Al Wakrah in the 84th minute.
Both sides started the game strongly, with a lot of intensity early on, but there wasn’t any real danger in front of goal.
It took until the 25th minute for the first proper opportunity to arrive, and Tabata duly put Al Sadd in the lead. Yousuf Abdurisag dribbled inwards from the left and then moved the ball to Tabata, who dodged the defenders and found the bottom corner with his shot.
Al-Sadd had a few more half chances but the teams would go into the break with just the one goal in it.
In the second half, much of the same followed. Xavi made three changes at once in the 63rd minute, replacing Ahmed Sayyar, Bahaa Al-Laithi and Hussam Kamal, with Mohammed Waad, Jung Woo-young and Nam Tae-hee.
Nam almost had a quick impact with his powerful low shot, however the ball rebounded off the post.
Al-Wakrah then went on to equalise in the 84th minute, when Khaled Muneer’s shot slipped through the hands of Saad Al-Dosari.
