Al-Sadd head coach Javi Gracia spoke of his team’s readiness ahead of their upcoming QNB Stars League Round 12 game against Al-Sailiya.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Gracia said: “After our last game was postponed, we were working on the next game against Al-Sailiya. It’s the next step for us and we are ready to compete with our best level, and this is our mentality. We try to always be focused on the next game, and we try to do our best.
Asked about the impact of the postponement of Al-Sadd’s Round 11 game aganst Al-Wakrah, the coach replied: “I don’t think about the postponement. It happened and we have to adapt to the new schedule. We have to adapt to the new game.”
He added: “We have enough time to prepare, to be ready and to compete well, and that is important for us. We will have time in the future to play this game against Al-Wakrah. I don’t want to complain about these kinds of things. I prefer to be positive and always be ready for the next game.”
Al-Sadd will miss a few players during the clash with Al-Sailiya, but Gracia refused to complain about the issue.
“I try to keep the same mentality: I don’t want to be complaining all the time, saying I don’t have this player or that player,” he said. “I prefer to give importance to the players that we have with us. I prefer to be generous with everyone in the team, valuing all the players we have. I don’t want to complain all the time about the players I don’t have.”
Gracia also stated that it did not matter where the opponent was placed in the table, and that Al-Sadd needed to focus regardless of the opposition.
“Before the game, I don’t stop to see where the position of our next opponent is in the table. Every team in the league always compete well, and they have a good squad. We have to be focused and we must try to concentrate in every game if we want to get the three points.”
He concluded by saying: “The best mentality is to be demanding of ourselves, and not look at our opponent’s situation. We have to always give our best and compete with our 100%; this is the best way.”
