Amir Cup 2022: Al-Sadd set to face Muaither in the Round of 16
The draw for the final rounds of the Amir Cup 2022, the fiftieth edition of the tournament, was conducted and broadcast via video conference on Wednesday, in light of the current circumstances caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The draw set the fixtures for the tournament, starting from the round of 16 and all the way to the final. The 16 participating teams were divided into two pools based on their league positions last season, and were drawn accordingly so that a team from the first pool would face an opponent from the second pool.
Al-Sadd were drawn to face Muaither in their Round of 16 fixture, with the winner of the clash going on to meet either Al-Ahli or Al-Markhiya in the quarterfinal. In the same side of the draw, Al-Sailiya will play Al-Arabi, while Al-Duhail will face off with Al-Khor.
The draw took place according to the new format of the tournament, where all teams will start the competition in the Round of 16, with the participation of 16 clubs from the first and second divisions.
