With this victory, Al-Sadd recorded their first three points in the competition. After a goalless first half, substitute Hassan Ahmed opened the scoring in the 58th minute, before Santi Cazorla doubled the lead in the 75th minute. Faisal Azadi netted the third in the 89th minute, and Rodrigo Tabata completed the scoring in the second minute of stoppage time.
