Al Sadd recorded a 3-1 win over Al-Gharafa an exciting and deserved victory, 3 goals to 1, over Al Gharafa, in the match that brought the two teams together today, Wednesday, at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium in Al Gharafa Club, as part of the fourteenth week of the QNB Stars League.
Baghdad Bounedjah netted a brace for Al-Sadd (8′, 56′) and Guilherme Torres added a third goal in the 92nd minute. Ahmed Alaeddin scored Al Gharafa’s goal in the 26th minute.
With this victory, the Wolves increased their points tally to 22 from 12 games, with two postponed matches remaining against Qatar and Al-Duhail.
Juanma Lillo’s Al-Sadd side got off to a good start when Bounedjah headed in the opening goal in the 8th minute, after a cross from the right by Pedro Miguel.
However, Al-Gharafa equalised in the 26th minute through Ahmed Alaaeldin, who received a pass from Yacine Brahimi that split Al-Sadd’s defence, before scoring with a powerful shot from inside the box.
After the halftime break, Al-Sadd went back in front. In the 56th minute, Ali Asad collected a pass from Hassan Al-Haydos, and then did well to dribble into the box before slipping the ball across to Bounedjah, who made no mistake with an easy finish.
The third goal arrived in the second minute of stoppage time, when Guilherme got on the scoresheet. Akram Afif’s initial shot came back off the crossbar; however, Pedro latched onto the ball on the left and sent it back into the box, where Guilherme put a touch in with the outside of his foot to divert it into the net.
