Following Al-Sadd’s 3-1 victory over Umm Salal in the quarter-finals of the Amir Cup, head coach Juanma expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and qualification for the semi-finals.
In the press conference after the match, Juanma acknowledged the challenges faced during the first half, stating, “We did not play our best, and there were some mistakes. Umm Salal’s style of play made things difficult for us, and they closely monitored most of our players, creating problems in the midfield.”
However, he noted that the team improved in the second half, scoring two goals right after the break, and playing in a fast, efficient manner that was better both defensively and offensively.
When asked if the red card given to the Umm Salal defender had contributed to Al-Sadd’s victory, Juanma downplayed its significance, saying, “The red card came in the last few minutes and did not help us much. We created many opportunities that allowed us to achieve victory and qualify for the semi-finals.”
Juanma concluded by emphasising the team’s focus on the Amir Cup and their determination to achieve victory in every match, saying, “Our focus is entirely on the Amir Cup. We take every game seriously and strive for success, especially given that we don’t have a big hope in the league championship.”
