Al-Sadd secured a 2-0 victory over Iran’s Esteghlal in their 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Elite second round match held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
With this result, Al-Sadd recorded their first victory in the competition and increased their tally to four points. Esteghlal goalkeeper Seyed Hosseini scored an own goal to put Al-Sadd ahead in the 40th minute, and Akram Afif made it 2-0 from a penalty in the 68th minute.
