Al-Sadd earned a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Al-Rayyan, in the QNB Stars League Week 20 match, which was held at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Friday.
In the 70th minute, Rodrigo Tabata put Al-Sadd ahead with a precise close-range strike from Akram Afif’s pass, and Baghdad Bounedjah secured the victory with a goal in injury time. Al-Rayyan’s Muhammad Ayyash was sent off in the 80th minute.
With this victory, Al-Sadd remained in third place in the standings table, increasing their tally to 41 points.
The match began with both teams displaying strength and speed, with Al-Sadd pushing hard to score an early goal. Al-Rayyan’s defense remained steadfast, however, and kept Al-Sadd at bay.
As the match progressed, and several attempts were made to score. Santi Cazorla fired a powerful shot in the 22nd minute, and Hashim Ali’s shot collided with Al-Rayyan’s defense in the 34th minute.
In the 37th minute, Akram Afif’s powerful shot hit the left post of Al-Rayyan’s goal, but the ball was pushed out by the defense. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
In the second half, Al-Sadd continued to push forward, with Baghdad Bounedjah’s header denied by Al-Rayyan’s goalkeeper in the 60th minute. Al-Sadd finally broke through in the 70th minute with Rodrigo Tabata’s goal. Tabata finished from inside the box, despite being surrounded by defenders, after receiving a pass from Afif.
The match continued with both teams making attempts to score, but Al-Sadd managed to secure the victory with Baghdad Bounedjah’s clean finish in injury time after a counter-attack.
