Al-Sadd recorded a 5-1 win over Al-Gharafa in the QNB Stars League Round 17 game which was played on Saturday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
The Wolves extended their lead at the top, raising their points tally to 43 from 15 games, with two postponed games yet to be played against Qatar SC and Al Rayyan.
Abdulkarim Hassan opened the scoring for Al-Sadd in the 2nd minute itself, but Al-Sadd then went a man down when Akram Afif was sent off in the 13th minute.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Al-Sadd managed to double their lead in the 25th minute through Rodrigo Tabata.
After the restart, three more goals arrived, with Santi Cazorla making it 3-0 in the 73rd minute, before substitute Andre Ayew struck twice in stoppage time to complete the scoring. Gabriel Pires got a consolation goal for Al-Gharafa in the 76th minute.
