The Al-Sadd first team held their main training session on Saturday evening at the club’s training centre in preparation for the upcoming clash with Al-Wakrah, in a rescheduled fixture from Round 11 of the QNB Stars League. The original game had been postponed after several Al-Wakrah players tested positive for Covid-19.
Al-Sadd come into the match with great enthusiasm after defeating Al-Arabi 4-2 in their last game, which took extended the team’s lead at the top of the table. Al-Sadd now have a tally of 37 points, while Al-Wakrah occupy third place with 28 points.
The technical staff, led by Spanish head coach Javi Gracia, were keen on implementing some special attacking moves, while focusing on the players’ movement. They later organised a practice mini-game in the middle of the pitch.
In the second half of the training session, the Al-Sadd players underwent specialised training on shooting from deep and from the sides.
The Wolves will miss the services of South Korean international Jung Woo-young, who is currently away with his national team for their games in the Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in addition to the U23 trio Yousuf Abdurisag, Faisal Muhammad and Mustafa Tarek, who are away with the U23 national team for their training camp.
The Al-Sadd team will hold their last training session from half past five on Sunday evening, at the end of which the coach will announce the list of players for the game, ahead of entering an overnight camp.
