Al-Sadd Club held a press conference today, Friday, to unveil the newly-signed foreigner players, who will strengthen the football team for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The new players are Brazilian left-back Paulo Otavio, Iranian defender Mohammad Amin Hazbawi, Colombian midfielder Matheus Uribe, and Brazilian attacker Giovanni Henrique.
The press conference was attended by Turki Nasser Al-Ali, the CEO of the club, Mohamed Ghanem Al-Ali, the Head of Football, and Mohamed Ghulam Al-Baloushi, the Sporting Director, as well as several representatives of local print and visual media.
The press conference started with a welcome speech from Turki Al-Ali, in which he thanked the media and expressed his best wishes for the team’s success in the new season, with the aim of achieving the aspirations of the club’s management and fans. He stated, “We wish all the players the best of luck and the highest levels of performance to contribute to achieving victories and reaching podiums to win titles with Al-Sadd.”
He continued, “Despite facing challenges last season, with several key players missing, the team managed to compete for the title. We encountered various circumstances that prevented us from winning championships, but we promise our fans to make up for what happened last season and to achieve titles.”
Mohamed Ghanem Al-Ali, the Head of Football at Al-Sadd, expressed his hope that the team will show the desired performance during the new season and achieve results that please all their supporters. He said, “Al-Sadd Club always aspires to win championships and seeks to achieve victories and deliver a great performance that brings joy to the club’s fans.”
He added, “We have upcoming challenges on both the Arab and Asian levels, as well as the start of the Qatar Stars League on August 17.”
Brazilian Paulo Otavio, who recently joined Al-Sadd from VfL Wolfsburg in Germany, said, “I am happy to join Al-Sadd and I will try to give my best in the upcoming period.”
Iranian defender Mohammad Amin Hozhawi expressed his ambition to win championships with Al-Sadd and explained that this was the reason for his choice.
Colombian Mateus Uribe, who joined Al-Sadd from Porto in Portugal, said, “James Rodriguez is one of the best players in Colombia and has achieved great success in European leagues, but luck was not on his side in the Qatari League.”
The Brazilian Giovanni Henrique, who came to Al-Sadd from Palmeiras in Brazil, also expressed his hope to deliver the expected performance and lead the team to significant victories during the upcoming continental competitions.
The 19-year-old Brazilian, who plays as a right winger, concluded his remarks by saying, “Undoubtedly, I aspire to play in European leagues, but my current goal is to win championships and give my all to achieve the best performance in Qatar. Then, I can think about experiencing European leagues.”
After the press conference, the players proudly posed with their new Al-Sadd jerseys for photographs.
