Al-Sadd secured their spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 Amir Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Al-Wakrah in the quarter-final clash today, held at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
Baghdad Bounedjah scored the decisive goal in the 20th minute, putting the finishing touch on Gonzalo Plata’s precise delivery from the left flank.
Throughout the match, Al-Sadd maintained control and posed constant threats to Al-Wakrah’s defense. The Wolves came close to doubling the lead in the 38th minute, but Al-Wakrah goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Bakri came up with two remarkable saves.
The second half saw Al-Sadd continue their attacking efforts while maintaining a solid defensive line to thwart Al-Wakrah’s attempts to equalise. Both teams persisted in their endeavours until the final whistle, as Al-Sadd emerged victorious by the lone goal.
