Al-Sadd’s Algerian forward Baghdad Bounedjah expressed his sorrow following the team’s 2-0 defeat against Al-Faisaly of Jordan in the fourth round of the AFC Champions League group stage.
In his post-match statements, Bounedjah said, “The team wasn’t at its best, and we didn’t deliver the required performance during the match, unlike Al-Faisaly, who succeeded in capitalizing on the opportunities and scoring the two winning goals.”
He added, “We hoped to achieve victory, but luck was not on our side. I congratulate Al-Faisaly because they were better than us. They played with spirit and secured the win. We are greatly disappointed with this defeat. We take responsibility for it and apologise to our fans.”
Bounedjah concluded by saying, “We didn’t expect this result. Perhaps winning by six goals in Doha affected us and made us not fully focused. We couldn’t secure the win, but despite the difficulty of the task, we still have chances that we will play for.”
