Al-Sadd head coach Bruno Miguel expressed his sadness after the team’s 1-3 loss to Nasaf in the second round of Group B in the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League.
Speaking at the press conference following the match, Bruno stated, “I don’t have much to say about this game. Nasaf won the game, and they won because they deserved it.”
He added, “Unfortunately, when we started to play better, we conceded the first goal. Nasaf began well with counter-attacks, but afterward, when we started to control the game, we conceded a goal.”
Continuing his remarks, Bruno said, “At the beginning of the second half, we should not have conceded in the first minute from a throw-in. Towards the end, when we scored and tried to get back into the game, we got a red card. That complicated matters for us, but it’s our mistake.”
The Portuguese coach emphasized that Al-Sadd is always a team that tries to control the game, stating, “We tried to do what we always do, but we lost. It’s part of football. Winning, drawing, losing – it’s all part of the game. What is important for us is to correct the mistakes and get better results in the next matches.”
“We will fight in the upcoming matches. I really believe that we are capable of getting enough to progress from the group,” Bruno added.
He concluded his statement by showing understanding for the players, saying, “Many of our players have been with the national teams. On the last FIFA day, we lost 20 players. Once their national duty is over, they have to return to the league. The schedule is very tight, and they are not able to recover before the next game. We have had some injuries. I can understand perfectly why the players are suffering.”
