Akram Afif wins 2019-20 Best Player award, Tarek Salman named as Best U-23 Player

Al-Sadd’s Akram Afif was named as the winner of the Best Player award for the 2019-20 season, after receiving the highest number of votes, over the other contenders Yacine Brahimi of Al-Rayyan, and Edmilson of Al-Duhail.

Akram received 60.91% of the votes to win the award for the second season in a row. It’s been an impressive season for Akram, as he lifted the Sheikh Jassim Cup and Qatar Cup with Al-Sadd, while also finishing with 15 goals in the QNB Stars League to be named as joint top scorer with Brahimi. ... 

Al-Sadd conclude preparations for Al-Gharafa clash, Khoukhi ruled out

The Al-Sadd first team squad concluded their preparations for the upcoming QNB Stars League Round 22 clash with Al-Gharafa with a final training session on Wednesday evening. The match is set to kick off at 4 PM on Thursday at Al Janoub Stadium.

QNB Stars League: Al-Sadd end season with 1-1 draw against Al-Gharafa

Al-Sadd ended their 2019-20 QNB Stars League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Al-Gharafa in the Round 22 clash which was played at Al-Janoub Stadium on Thursday.

Al-Gharafa took the lead through Ahmed Alaa’s 65th minute goal, before Akram Afif equalised from the penalty spot in the 91st minute, having missed another penalty moments earlier. The game saw Al-Gharafa defender Almahdi Ali get sent off in the 77th minute for a dangerous challenge, while their coach Slavisa Jokanovic was also shown the red card for arguing with the officials in stoppage time. ... 

Ooredoo Cup: Al-Sadd conclude preparations for Al-Ahli

Al-Sadd concluded their preparations for the Ooredoo Cup semifinal against Al-Ahli, with a final training session on Friday evening at the club’s training centre. The match is set to kick off at 7 PM at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

The Wolves reached the semifinals of the competition after finishing third in Group A with 7 points, and then defeating Qatar SC on penalties in the quarterfinals. Al-Ahli, meanwhile, finished first in Group A with 12 points, and then overcame Al-Gharafa 1-0 in their last 8 clash. ...
