Sergio Alegre: The players know how important this game is

Al-Sadd coach Sergio Alegre spoke about the difficulty of his side’s upcoming Doha Bank Stars League game against Al-Rayyan, in Round 9 of the competition.

Addressing the media at the pre-match press conference, Alegre said: “Obviously the game against Al-Rayyan will be very equal. They are coming from the last game they won against Al-Wakrah, so they will come in a good moment. But we are working and doing our best to get the three points and try to go up in the table.” ... 

Doha Bank Stars League: Al-Sadd lose to Al-Arabi

Al-Sadd lost 1-3 to Al-Arabi in the 2025-26 Doha Bank Stars League eighth round clash, which was held at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. With this result, Al-Sadd remains at 8 points.

Al-Sadd’s goal was scored by Akram Afif in the 39th minute. For Al-Arabi, Michael Olunga scored in the 43rd minute, Ahmed Suhail (Al-Sadd defender) scored an own goal in the 45th minute, and Rodri scored in the 80th minute.  ... 

Sergio Alegre: We must be fully prepared against Al-Arabi

Sergio Alegre, the coach of Al-Sadd, stressed the significance of the upcoming match against Al-Arabi in the eighth week of the Doha Bank Stars League for the 2025-2026 season. The match is set to take place on Saturday evening at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. Speaking at the press conference, Alegre said: “The upcoming match against Al-Arabi will be very tough. They have a new technical staff, and although their start to the season hasn’t been particularly strong, they have talented players, both foreign professionals and locals.” He added: “It’s a strong match and considered a Qatar football derby. We must be fully prepared to secure the victory.”

Regarding the team’s recent results, the Al-Sadd coach stated: “It’s clear we’re not happy with the outcomes of recent matches. We feel disappointed, but this feeling should motivate the players to turn things around.” He concluded: “We must give our best to earn the three points. Our goal is to stay as close as possible to the top of the league table, and that’s our main objective this season.” ...

Sergio Alegre, the coach of Al-Sadd, expressed his sadness following the team’s 1-3 loss to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal in the third round of the AFC Champions League Elite.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sergio said: “Al-Hilal dominated the first half and scored two goals. We were better in the second half, creating more attempts and chances, but in the end, Al-Hilal secured the victory.”  ... 

ACL Elite: Al Sadd fall 3-1 to Al Hilal

Al Sadd suffered a 3-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in their Group Stage match of the 2025–26 AFC Champions League Elite, played on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Kingdom Arena.

With this result, Al Sadd remain on two points from three matches. The team’s only goal came through Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino in the 64th minute, while Al Hilal’s goals were scored by Yusuf Akcicek in the 25th minute, Kalidou Koulibaly in the 40th, and Sergej Milinković-Savić in the 81st. ...

ACL Elite: Al-Sadd to depart for Riyadh in Monday ahead of Al-Hilal clash

The Al-Sadd delegation will depart on Monday morning, October 20, to Riyadh in preparation for their match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal in the third round of the AFC Champions League Elite for the 2025-2026 season. The match is scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Kingdom Arena.

The Al-Sadd delegation includes members of the technical and administrative staff, along with 23 players: Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham, Youssef Al-Balushi, Abdulrahman Bakri, Guilherme Torres, Ahmed Suhail, Abdullah Al-Yazidi, Paulo Otávio, Tarek Salman, Boualem Khoukhi, Agustín Soria, Mohammed Waad, Mohammed Kamara, Rafa Mujica, Akram Afif, Hashem Ali, Giovanni Henrique, Hassan Al-Haydos, Pedro Miguel, Claudinho, Roberto Firmino, Mustafa Tarek, and Ali Asad. The first team continued their training today, Sunday, on the club’s secondary pitch. ... 

Félix Sánchez: Not satisfied with the result against Sharjah

Al Sadd coach Félix Sánchez expressed his disappointment after his side were held 1-1 by Sharjah in the AFC Champions League Elite.

At the post-match press conference, Sánchez said: “We went ahead in the first half and wanted to continue in the same way in the second, playing attacking football, but the team dropped back and conceded unexpectedly. It was a balanced game between both sides.” ... 

Meshaal Barsham: I wanted Al Sadd to win along with the Best Player award

Al Sadd goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham said he had hoped for victory against Sharjah after their AFC Champions League Elite group stage clash ended 1-1.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Barsham, who was named Man of the Match, said: “I won the best player award but I wanted Al Sadd to win first. It was a tough and strong game. We took the lead but couldn’t hold on, and we had the chance to score more than one goal in the first half.” ...
