Al-Sadd defeat Wydad to win Al Ahrar Cup

Al Sadd were crowned champions of the friendly Al Ahrar Cup after defeating Morocco’s Wydad 5–4, following a 1–1 draw in regular time.

Akram Afif scored for Al Sadd from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, while Hamza Al-Wasati netted the equaliser for Wydad in the 67th minute.

Agustin Soria: Thank you for the warm welcome, I will give my all

Uruguayan Agustín Soria affirmed that he is ready to embark on a new chapter with Al Sadd, which he described as one of the biggest clubs in Qatar and Asia.

Soria said: “This is a big change in my life. I’m happy and I thank you for the warm welcome. I will give my all to help Al Sadd.”

The Uruguayan star added: “I understand the size of the responsibility on my shoulders, and I’m well aware that many great legends have played in Al Sadd’s midfield. Therefore, I will do my utmost to add value to the midfield and the team as a whole in order to achieve the best results.” ...

Spanish player Pau Prim expressed his great satisfaction at joining Al-Sadd, extending his thanks to the team’s technical management and all members of the club.

Speaking at the press conference, Pau said: “I’m very happy to be here. It will be a new adventure, and I will do everything I can to achieve the best results and win titles. I’m motivated to start my new experience with this historic Al-Sadd club. Everyone welcomed me as the youngest foreign player, and I’m grateful to all.” ...

Brazilian star Roberto Firmino expressed his delight at joining Al-Sadd, praising the atmosphere within the club and the warm welcome he received from the players, as well as the technical and administrative staff.

Speaking at the press conference, Firmino said: “I’m happy to be in Qatar. I thank everyone who contributed to my move to Al Sadd. I will try to make an impact alongside my teammates, using my experience to help Al Sadd win titles.” ...

Al-Sadd sign Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino until 2027

Al-Sadd SC has officially announced the signing of Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino from Saudi club Al-Ahli Jeddah on a two-year deal, running until 2027.

Firmino joined Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023, arriving from English side Liverpool.

During his time with Al-Ahli, the Brazilian forward played 65 matches across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists. Notably, he recently lifted the AFC Champions League Elite title with Al-Ahli. ...
