Felix Sanchez, the coach of Al-Sadd, spoke about the significance of the upcoming match against Al-Wakrah in the fifth week of the Doha Bank Stars League for the 2025-2026 season.
In his press conference remarks, Sanchez stated: “Our next match will be against Al-Wakrah. They’ve been performing well despite their recent result against Al-Ahli, so we expect a tough encounter.”
He continued: “For us, this is an important opportunity, especially after our recent loss in the league, to come back strongly and deliver a big performance against a strong team. Our players are motivated after the AFC Champions League match, and now they want to return to the league competition. We know every league match is challenging, but we’re confident in our ability to perform well against Al-Wakrah.”
Regarding the pressure of balancing domestic and Asian competitions, the Spanish coach said: “Every season, we have to adapt to different tournaments and quickly shift from one competition to another. The key is recovering physical readiness after the effort they put in and then refocusing on the league, as earning points remains the top priority.”
On his part, Al-Sadd player Giovanni Henrique said: “We want to win the league title again this year. We know it’s tough; every match feels like a final. Al-Wakrah is a strong team with talented players, but we also have big players here at Al-Sadd. I trust myself, my teammates, and our ability to win this match.”
He added: “You can’t win all the time, but we’ve trained well this week and are prepared in the best way possible. I believe we’re capable of returning to winning ways against Al-Wakrah and continuing positive results in the upcoming matches.”
