Al-Sadd’s Qatari internationals returned to the club for training on Sunday, as the first team stepped up preparations for the upcoming QNB Stars League Round 8 game against Al-Wakrah, which is to be played on Tuesday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
The nine Qatari internationals – Hassan Al-Haydos, Meshaal Barsham, Khoukhi Boualem, Musaab Khidir, Mohammed Waad, Akram Afif, Tarek Salman, Yousuf Abdurisag and Abdelkarim Hassan – returned after the national team’s game against Bangladesh in the Asian joint qualifiers.
With all the players back, the first team trained in high spirits during Sunday’s session, ahead of the game against Al-Wakrah, which the Wolves will look to win in order to remain on top of the league table.
Al-Sadd occupy first place in the standings with a tally of 19 points from 6 wins and a draw.
Sunday’s training session saw head coach Xavi Hernandez and his staff focus on tactical aspects, with the application of some attacking moves. Towards the end of the session, Xavi implemented set-piece practice.
Meanwhile, Al-Sadd goalkeeper Saad Al-Dosari continued to train under the supervision of goalkeeping coach Xavi Ferrando, as he looks to reach full fitness before joining the squad. Saad recently made his recovery from the injury which had ruled him out since mid-October.
