Al-Sadd head coach Juanma described the team’s qualification for the final of the Amir Cup, after defeating Al-Shahania in the semi-finals, as a ‘special match’ and spoke of their desire to win the title.
During the post-match press conference, Juanma stated, “It was a very special match. The players gave their best to win. We dominated, scored, and didn’t make many mistakes.”
The coach admitted that after Al-Sadd scored their third goal, there was a brief moment of slackness, and Al-Shahania scored a goal to try to return to the match. But, he added, “We were confident in ourselves and decided the match in our favour.”
When asked about his preferred opponent in the final, Juanma replied, “I respect all the teams that participated in the tournament, and we must be careful in the final. We await any team that faces us.”
Juanma emphasised that the Amir Cup is not an easy tournament, and his team had a strong journey throughout it. “We want the title, and we will work hard to achieve it,” he added.
Regarding Pedro’s absence from the starting lineup, Juanma explained, “Pedro is returning from an injury and was not included from the start to preserve him. He participated for half an hour, and I am happy with his return to the team, especially as he is always a source of strength for us.”
Juanma concluded by praising Baghdad, who scored his 201st goal with Al-Sadd. “He is a high-level player, and everyone is happy for Baghdad. In every match, he shows that he is an influential player for the team and gives us confidence and strength that helps us achieve victories.”
