Al Sadd’s first team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Al Shamal in the opening round of the 2024-25 Ooredoo Stars League. The match took place on Saturday at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium at Al Rayyan Club.
Algerian player Baghdad Bounedjah scored both goals for Al Shamal in the 31st and 74th minutes, while Al Sadd reduced the deficit through an own goal by Al Shamal’s defender Jeison Murillo in the 89th minute.
The match also saw Akram Afif miss a penalty during stoppage time in the second half.
