Al-Sadd suffered a 1-2 loss against Al-Arabi in the final match of the QNB Stars League for the 2022-2023 season, which took place on Monday, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
With this loss, Al-Sadd remained at 44 points in third place. Al-Sadd’s goal was scored by Baghdad Bounedjah in the 93rd minute, while Al-Arabi’s goals were scored by Abdullah Maarafi in the second minute and Omar Al-Somah in the 55th minute.
The match started fast with Al-Arabi taking the lead early in the second minute after Abdullah Maarafi’s shot from outside the penalty area found the bottom left corner of the net.
Al-Sadd players exerted strong pressure to equalize, and Ayoub El-Kaabi threatened Al-Arabi’s goal with a powerful shot in the 19th minute that hit the left post. The first half ended with Al-Arabi leading by one goal.
Al-Arabi managed to score their second goal in the 55th minute through Syrian striker Omar Al-Somah who netted with a header past Meshaal Barsham.
Al-Sadd players pressed to reduce the deficit, and substitute Baghdad Bounedjah succeeded in scoring in stoppage time, but there would be no equaliser and the Wolves ended the season with a defeat.
