Felix Sanchez: It was a tight and intense game

Felix Sanchez, Al Sadd’s head coach, described the match against UAE’s Al Wasl as a tough and competitive encounter in the first leg of the AFC Champions League Elite Round of 16, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sanchez said: “As expected, it was a tight and intense game between both teams. We conceded a difficult goal in the first half, and we could have dealt with the situation better.” ... 

Abdullah Al-Yazidi: It was a tough game, we played better in the second half

Al-Sadd player Abdullah Al Yazidi acknowledged that the team did not perform at the expected level in the first half of their AFC Champions League Elite Round of 16 first-leg match against UAE’s Al Wasl.

Al-Sadd squad set to travel to Dubai on Sunday to face Al-Wasl

Al Sadd’s squad will depart for Dubai on the afternoon of Sunday, 2nd March 2025, in preparation for their clash against UAE’s Al Wasl in the first leg of the AFC Champions League Elite Round of 16 (West Zone). The match is set to take place on Monday evening at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai.

Hassan Al-Haydos, the captain of Al Sadd, expressed his delight with the team’s dominant 4-0 victory over Al Gharafa on Matchday 17 of the Ooredoo Stars League.

Ooredoo Stars League: Al-Sadd defeat Al-Gharafa 4-0

Al Sadd continued their winning streak in the 2024-2025 Ooredoo Stars League, securing a 4-0 victory over Al Gharafa in the opening match of Matchday 17. The game took place on Thursday, 27 February 2025, at Thani bin Jassim Stadium.

With this win, Al Sadd moved up to 37 points. The goals were scored by Akram Afif in the 26th minute, while Rafa Mujica netted a hat-trick with goals in the 56th, 70th, and 77th minutes. The match also saw Al Gharafa’s Seydou Sano sent off in the 87th minute. ...
