Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his happiness after his side defeated Al-Sailiya 5-1 win their QNB Stars League Round 2 clash on Monday.
Speaking to the club website after the game, Xavi said: “All the players were excellent. The first 25 minutes were wonderful and we could have killed the match off. We suffered a little after they scored the first goal, but we came back in control again at the beginning of the second half, and we were much better than Al Sailiya at everything.”
He added: “We are going through some beautiful moments, and I am happy, as the coach, with what we have achieved so far.”
“For me, all the players are very important, and I have many options, despite playing today without Akram Afif.”
The coach also praised the team’s hard work, saying: “Everyone in the team works hard and I am happy for all the players and what they have given during the two matches against Al Kharaitiyat and Al Sailiya.”
As for the team’s readiness ahead of the AFC Champions League, Xavi said: “We will turn the page on the league after winning 6 wonderful points, and we will start preparing for the Asian Champions League from now. We need to be fully focused and give our best during this next phase.”
He concluded by saying: “I’m happy with the team’s performance today; we are moving at a steady pace and improving from one match to another. We were excellent against Al Sailiya and I hope that we will continue in this manner.”
