Al Sadd coach Félix Sánchez praised his team for their performance after the 1-0 victory over Persepolis in the third round of the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Elite.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sánchez said: “I congratulate the players on winning a very difficult match against Persepolis. We secured very important points, and I congratulate the players and the fans on this victory.”
He added: “After the FIFA break, we had a very packed schedule. We played in the league and then faced Persepolis, while the Iranian team had their league match postponed. Despite the match pressure, we achieved the win, which is the most important thing.”
Regarding Persepolis coach’s comment that his team deserved to win because they were the better side, Sánchez said: “Persepolis played their way and lost, while we played our way and won. We respect his opinion, but we deserved to win the match.”
He concluded: “Two wins and one draw show that we are on the right track towards qualification, and that’s the most important thing for us at this stage. Afterward, we will think about what’s next.”
