Al-Sadd coach Sergio Alegre said that his team played a good and strong match against Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia in the fourth round of the 2025–2026 AFC Champions League Elite.
The Spanish coach said in the post-match press conference: “We played a good match against a strong team, but luck was not on our side, and we couldn’t come away with a positive result.”
He added: “We deserved a better outcome based on the performance the team showed throughout both halves. We did everything we could in the match but missed several chances. The team has improved, and there’s still hope to compete in the tournament.”
When asked about Al-Sadd’s reliance on Akram Afif, he replied: “Akram is an excellent player, one of the best in Qatar, but the team has many other quality players. We don’t depend only on Akram — the squad is made up of several outstanding players.”
