The Al-Sadd first team held their main training session on Thursday, at the club’s secondary pitch, in preparation for the upcoming Amir Cup 2020 semifinal against Al-Duhail. The game is scheduled to kick off at 6 PM on Saturday at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
Al-Sadd began their Amir Cup campaign earlier in the year with a 3-2 win over Al-Kharaitiyat in the round of 16, before defeating Al-Wakrah on penalties in the quarterfinal.
The Wolves go into the upcoming game in great spirits after their big 7-1 victory over Al-Ahli in the fifth round of the league.
During Thursday’s main session, the coaching staff implemented some attacking drills and also focused on the players’ movement, before dividing the squad into two teams to play out a practice mini-game. In the second half of the session, the players underwent some special training on shooting from deep and from the sides.
Al-Sadd management officials were in attendance during the session, to show their support for the team ahead of the big game.
Goalkeeper Saad Al-Dossari will be the most prominent absentee for Saturday’s game, as he is still undergoing treatment under the supervision of the national team’s medical staff after sustaining an injury during the last international friendly against Ghana.
Meanwhile, Algerian international striker Baghdad Bounedjah participated in the team’s main training session today after recovering from a knee ligament injury, which had ruled him out of the last two games.
Al-Sadd will now hold its last training session from 5:30 PM onwards on Friday evening, after which the head coach will announce the list of the players for the game.
