Al-Sadd head coach Juanma Lillo has spoken of the importance of his side’s 1-0 victory over Al-Markhiya, in the QNB Stars League Round 12 game played on Sunday.
In his statement to the club’s website after the match, Juanma said: “We achieved an important victory. All the league matches are difficult, and there is no easy match. Al-Markhiya played long balls a lot and we dealt with them well.”
He added: “We played better after the goal, controlled the match and got several good chances to kill the match off, but we failed to score.”
“In football, we must take advantage of the opportunities that are available to us, and always a 1-0 score makes you feel that the game is difficult and that we can lose our advantage at any time.”
The coach concluded by saying: “The situation is currently better for the team in terms of the number of players, after the return of all international players. We are improving from one match to another, and winning the last three matches will give us a strong impetus to complete the journey and get closer to the top of the table.”
