Al-Sadd’s Akram Afif stressed on the difficulty of his side’s 1-0 victory over Al-Rayyan, which took them to the final of the 2021 Qatar Cup.
Speaking after the match, Afif said: “The match was difficult, and this is the case with cup matches. Only one team qualifies and we did what was required to reach the final.”
The Al Sadd star added: “We have to wait to see who will qualify from the other semi-final. Our coach Xavi will evaluate our mistakes in the game against Al Rayyan and he is the one who sets the plan. We as players have to play and give everything we have in front of any opponent.”
Akram also indicated that the referee did not protect Al Sadd players on the pitch, and said: “I was roughed up more than once, and then I was injured in the presence of the referee, and the same thing happened with Hassan Al Haydos.”
