Al-Sadd’s first team regained its winning form with a 2-0 victory against Qatar SC in the rescheduled match from Round 8 of the QNB Stars League at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.
The win elevated Al-Sadd to third place in the league with 25 points from 14 games. Hassan Al-Haydos (45+4′) and Akram Afif (52′) scored the goals for Al-Sadd. Qatar SC players Omar Al-Emadi and Badr Banoun were sent off in the 50th and 65th minutes, respectively.
The match began with both teams showing strength and enthusiasm. Al-Sadd’s players sought to control the ball by increasing the numerical density in the midfield area. In the 13th minute, Akram Afif fired a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, which was saved twice by the Qatar SC goalkeeper Sataa Al-Abbasi.
Al-Sadd pressed hard to score the first goal. In the 24th minute, Hassan Al-Haydos penetrated from the right side and played a cross, but the Qatar SC defense intercepted it. Al-Haydos tried again in the 30th minute but hit the right post of the Qatar goal.
In added time for the first half, Hassan Al-Haydos scored a free kick from outside the penalty area into the right corner of the Qatar goal, giving Al-Sadd the lead.
Al-Sadd continued to dominate the second half, and Akram Afif scored the second goal in the 52nd minute with a solo effort from the right side.
Al-Sadd coach Juanma Lillo made several changes with Pedro Miguel and Hassan Al-Haydos replacing Bahaa Al-Laithi and Ahmed Al-Saeed. Abdulrahman Rashed came on as a late substitute for Hashim Ali.
Al-Sadd retained control for the rest of the game to secure the 2-0 victory.
