Al-Sadd suffered a 2-3 defeat against Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale in their AFC Champions League Elite 2024-2025 quarterfinal match, which was played at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
With this loss, Al-Sadd exited the competition at the quarterfinal stage, while Kawasaki will now face Al-Nassr in the semifinals. The other semifinal will be an all-Saudi clash between Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli.
Al-Sadd’s goals were scored by Paulo Otávio in the 9th minute and Claudinho in the 71st minute, while Kawasaki’s goals came through Erison in the 4th minute, Marcinho in the 21st minute, and Yasuto Wakizaka in the 98th minute.
