Al-Sadd hold main training session to prepare for Qatar SC clash

The Al-Sadd first team held their main training session on Tuesday, to prepare for the upcoming QNB Stars League clash with Qatar SC. The postponed fixture from Round 13 will be played on Thursday at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium.

The Qatar Football Association’s Competitions Committee had decided to postpone the fixture from its original date upon a request from Al-Sadd, after several of the team’s players tested positive for Covid-19.

The Wolves go into the game in high spirts after building up a significant lead at the top of the league table, with a tally of 46 points from 16 rounds, with two games in hand. Qatar SC are currently in eighth place with 22 points.

The coaching staff used Tuesday’s main session to work on the players’ movement before organising a practice mini-game.

The players also underwent special shooting drills.

Tuesday’s training session witnessed the return of midfielder Guilherme, who had missed the last game against Muaither in the Amir Cup due to a muscle injury.

Akram Afif will miss the upcoming clash against Qatar SC, due to his two-match suspension after his sending off in the Round 17 game against Al Gharafa.

Meanwhile, Salem Al-Hajri returned to training following the end of physiotherapy and rehabilitation period, after he had been out since last July with an Achilles tendon injury.

The team’s final training session will be held from 5:30 PM onwards on Wednesday, at the end of which the coach will announce the squad for the game.
