Al-Sadd begin preparations for Amir Cup semifinal against Al-Duhail

Al-Sadd resumed their training at 5:30 pm on Monday, at the club’s secondary pitch, after the big 7-1 win over Al-Ahli in Round 5 of the QNB Stars League.

The result took the Wolves to the top of the league table with 13 points from 4 wins and a draw.

Al-Sadd is now preparing to face Al-Duhail in the semi-final of the Amir Cup, which will be played on Saturday, October 31 at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. ... 

Mohammed Waad: Team spirit was the reason behind this big win

Al-Sadd’s Mohamed Waad congratulated his teammates after the big 7-1 win over Al-Ahli in the QNB Stars League, and attributed the result to the team’s spirit.

Speaking after the match, Waad said: “The Al-Sadd players put in great effort and outperformed themselves during the match. We have climbed to the top of the table and our goal is to continue there until the end of the competition.” ... 

QNB Stars League: Al-Sadd go top after 7-1 win over Al-Ahli

Al-Sadd climbed to the top of the QNB Stars League table, after a huge 7-1 win over Al-Ahli in the Round 5 game which was played at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium on Sunday evening.

Hashim Ali scored twice for Al-Sadd (5′, 36′), while Rodrigo Tabata (12′), Akram Afif (30′), Santi Cazorla (45′), Nam Tae-hee (58′) and Ahmed Sayyar (90+1′) also got on the scoresheet. Al-Ahli’s lone goal was scored by Nabil El Zhar (54′). ... 

Ahmed Suhail: We played really well against Al-Duhail, our focus now is on Al-Ahli

Al-Sadd defender Ahmed Suhail praised his side’s performance against Al-Duhail in their last QNB Stars League game, and spoke of the players’ desire to get another positive result in the upcoming Round 5 game against Al-Ahli.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ahmed said: “It is an important match for us. We got what was required against Al Duhail, and we are now focused fully on the next match against Al-Ahli. The most important thing is to collect the three points.” ... 

Xavi: We cannot relax against Al-Ahli, three points will take us to the top

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of the importance of his side’s upcoming QNB Stars League Round 5 game against Al-Ahli, describing the opponents as the best in the competition so far.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “After defeating Duhail, the next game is very important because Al Ahli didn’t lose any points and they’re doing really well, especially with the coach – I have to say that he is doing a really great job – and the team is totally different from the last season.” ... 

Recovery training for the first team players

The Al-Sadd first team players resumed their training at 5 pm on Thursday at the club secondary pitch, following the 3-1 victory over Al-Duhail in the rescheduled QNB Stars League Round 3 game which was played on Wednesday.

The Wolves are now preparing for the next game against Al-Ahli, in Round 5 of the league, which will be played on Sunday evening at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium. ... 

Khoukhi Boualem: We played with great concentration and got 3 important points

Al-Sadd defender Khoukhi Boualem spoke of the importance of his side’s 3-1 win over Al-Duhail in the QNB Stars League, attributing the result to the team’s concentration.

In his comments after the match, Khoukhi said: “We got three important points against Al Duhail. We entered the game with great concentration and succeeded in winning and compensating for the last draw against Al Khor.” ... 

QNB Stars League: Al-Sadd move to second place after 3-1 win over Al-Duhail

Al-Sadd registered a convincing 3-1 win over Al-Duhail in the rescheduled QNB Stars League Round 3 game, which was played at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Wednesday.

Nam Tae-hee opened the scoring for Al-Sadd in the 22nd minute, before Guilherme Torres made it 2-0 in the 38th minute. Nam then returned to score his second and Al-Sadd’s third in the 70th minute. Dudu scored a consolation goal for Al-Duhail in the 86th minute. ...
