Al-Sadd clinch Clasico win over Al-Rayyan

Al-Sadd recorded a 2-1 win over Al-Rayyan in their QNB Stars League Round 9 game which was played at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium on Wednesday. Andre Ayew (7′) and Akram Afif (52′) scored for Al-Sadd, while Steven Nzonzi (56′) got the lone goal for Al-Rayyan.

The result meant that Al-Sadd increased their points tally to 10 from eight games, and move up to eighth place in the league table. The Wolves have a postponed game against Qatar SC from Round 8 yet to be played. ... 

Al-Sadd wrap up preparation for Al-Rayyan clash, vice-president visits training

Eng. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, vice-president of Al-Sadd SC, attended the final training session of the football first team on Tuesday, in preparation for the match against Al-Rayyan in Round 9 of the QNB Stars League.

The vice-president’s visit came as a show of support from the management, towards the coaching staff and players, before the Qatar Clasico clash against Al-Rayyan. The management has been keen to encourage the team to show a strong performance and to achieve good results in the remaining games, in order to compete for the league title this season. ... 

Jung Woo-young: We need to win all the games, the Clasico is the beginning

Al-Sadd’s South Korean international Jung Woo-young spoke of the importance of winning all the remaining games in the QNB Stars League, ahead of the team’s Round 9 clash with Al-Rayyan.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Woo-young said: “Before the World Cup we lost many points, and now it’s time to add points to our tally. From now we need to win all the games.” ... 

Juanma: We are ready for a difficult clash against Al-Rayyan

Al-Sadd head coach Juanma Lillo shared his thoughts on the team’s preparation, while addressing the media ahead of the team’s QNB Stars League Round 9 game against Al-Rayyan on Wednesday.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Juanma said: “Looking at the World Cup from the perspective of Al-Sadd, we had to be most attentive because we had a large number of players at the tournament.” ...

Al-Sadd defeat Al-Shamal 3-0 in friendly

Al-Sadd club’s first team recorded a 3-0 victory over Al-Shamal, in a friendly match that was held today, Thursday, at the club’s secondary pitch, in preparation for the resumption of the 2022-23 QNB Stars League season.

The Wolves will face the Qatar SC, in the eighth round of the competition, on January 4, 2023. ... 

Al-Sadd continue preparing for QSL restart

The Al-Sadd first team continued training on Wednesday, at the club’s training centre, in preparation for the resumption of the QNB Stars League on the fourth of January.

The coaching staff, led by Spanish head coach Juanma Lillo, intensified preparations in order to get the players to the required level of readiness ahead of the next game, with Al Sadd scheduled to face Qatar SC in the eighth round of the league championship. During the session, Juanma focused on stepping up physical training, in addition to skill drills and tactical exercises. ... 

Al-Sadd resume training after a break

The Al-Sadd first team resumed training today, Saturday, after a period of rest.

The current league break will continue until the end of the World Cup in Qatar, which will be followed by the start of the eighth round of the QNB Stars League at the end of December.

The Wolves are missing several players who are with the senior national team, along with 6 players with the Qatar U23 team participating in the WAFF Championship in Saudi Arabia. ...
