AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd resume training to prepare for Al-Wehdat clash on Matchday 4

The Al-Sadd first team resumed training on Wednesday, inside the sports hall of the team hotel in Riyadh, following the crucial 3-1 win over Jordanian side Al-Wehdat on Matchday 3 of the AFC Champions League.

The Wolves are now preparing to face Al-Wehdat again on Matchday 4 of the tournament, in the game which will kick off at 9 PM on Friday evening at Faisal bin Fahd Stadium. ... 

Xavi: We got an important win over Al-Wehdat

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his happiness after his side’s 3-1 win over Al-Wehdat, on Matchday 3 of the AFC Champions League group stage.

Speaking during the press conference after the match, Xavi said: “I’m happy to win and get the three points. We played well in the first half, and we succeeded in controlling possession. We were able to score 3 goals and it was possible to increase the number of goals, which could help us in the competition for the top spot.” ... 

Khoukhi Boualem: We really needed this win

Al-Sadd’s Khoukhi Boualem said his side were in great need of the 3-1 win over Al-Wehdat in the AFC Champions League group stage.

Speaking after the Matchday 3 clash in Riyadh, Khoukhi said: “We really needed the win over Al-Wehdat after failing in the first two games. We are grateful to God that we managed to achieve this.” ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd defeat Al-Wehdat 3-1 to register first win

Al-Sadd registered their first win of the AFC Champions League after defeating Al-Wehdat 3-1 in their Group D Matchday 3 clash on Tuesday at the King Fahd International Stadium.

Baghdad Bounedjah put Al-Sadd in the lead with a 2nd minute strike, before Khoukhi Boualem doubled the advantage in the 9th minute. Hassan Al-Haydos then made it 3-0 in the 26th minute. Ahmed Sameer scored Al-Wehdat’s lone goal from a penalty in the 63rd minute. ... 

Xavi: We will play to win against Al-Wehdat, Group D is still open

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez addressed the media ahead of tomorrow’s match against Al-Wehdat team on Matchday 3 of the AFC Champions League, and spoke about the difficulty of the clash.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “It is an important and difficult match for us against Al Wehdat. We have a chance to win and get three points, but it will not be easy against a team that is strong in defence and have good physical abilities. We will come into the match with all our strength in order to achieve victory.” ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd begin preparations for Al-Wehdat clash

The Al-Sadd first team began preparations for the upcoming Matchday 3 game against Jordan’s Al-Wehdat in Group D of the AFC Champions League 2021. The game is set to be played on Tuesday at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

The Wolves had earlier lost 3-1 to Al-Nassr on Matchday 2.

The first team squad underwent pre-match Covid-19 tests on Sunday afternoon, at the club’s residence at the Burj Rafal. ... 

Xavi: The result is unfair, we lost because of our mistakes

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his disappointment after his side’s 3-1 defeat to Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League Group D match, which was played in Riyadh on Saturday.

In his statement after the match, Xavi said: “I think the result is unfair. We deserve more than this result and at least a draw, considering the performance shown by the players and the many opportunities we missed, and I will not comment on the referee’s decision and the incorrect penalty kick.” ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd lose to Al-Nassr

Al-Sadd fell to a 3-1 defeat to Al-Nassr on Matchday 2 of the AFC Champions League 2021, in the Group D game which was played on Saturday at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh.

Abderrazak Hamdallah gave Al-Nassr the lead with a penalty in the 37th minute, before Santi Cazorla equalised in the 59th minute. Abdulmajeed Al Sulayhim then scored Al-Nassr’s second goal in the 78th minute, while Khaled Al Ghannam netted their third in stoppage time. ...
